I love a big city that can offer up amazing food experiences which encompasses it's culture and also makes the most of it's surroundings to enhance the experience.

These are my Top 5 European Big cities for "Best Food" I have visited in the last 10 years.

“Eat the Spaghetti to Forgetti your Regretti"

Here is my list:

Top 5

Number 1:

MADRID

From the Tapas of olives and seafood, to the chain of Museo del Jamon for your meat fest. Incredible Seafood Paella and markets such as Mercado San Miguel, this city is a food lovers paradise!

Cava and Sangria also in abundance!

Number 2:

PARIS

Escargot (Snails), Croissants, French Bread, Paninis and Meat Crepes were my favourites to eat in Paris. Jambon-beurre (Paris street food) is what we fell in love with.

Great pubs and cafes and wine bars with casual outside dining and amazing wine and great beer. What's not to love?

Number 3:

BERLIN

German food can certainly be a little heavy but if you like meat then this is the place for you! Bratwurst sausage (and often with currywurst sauce), Sauerkraut, Potato Pancakes and Schnitzel (although traditionally Austrian) and thick cut chips (fries), are just some of the yummy food found in Berlin. We enjoyed the many Al-fresco dining options in Berlin. There's nothing better than enjoying a beer and a sausage out in the open air!

Delicious German Beer, mostly wheat ales and lagers of course lead the way in Berlin. Also always enjoy a local Riesling too when here.

Number 4:

ZURICH

Zurich is a cheese lovers paradise! Cheese fondue & Raclette (molten cheese served with bread, potatoes and meats) are everywhere and is a must do. Raclette is a little cheaper though and super delish! Rösti (fried grated potatoes) are extra tasty and Zürcher Geschnetzeltes (veal and mushrooms on a cream sauce) are also amazing. Of course Swiss Chocolate is everywhere and decadent and extremely tasty.

Zurich has some great local beer made in the style of German beer mostly. Switzerland also is the home and origins of Absinthe (made of Wormwood leaves), and now that it is legal again to drink there are many places in Zurich to try it out as we had fun doing.

Number 5:

MILAN

Milan has so many delish food options! It's in Italy so of course that means there are tons of Pizza, Spaghetti and Pasta restaurants all over. They have a great little food truck chain too called Lubar that even in the Central Train Station can you find yummy food. The Milanese sauces and style are extra tasty. Preparing something milanese (or milanesa) style means dredging thin slices of meat in eggs and seasoned bread crumbs and frying them.

Prosecco is also everywhere since it'a origins are from Italy, and sipping Italian Wines and Prosecco outside in the sun in a plaza in Milan is something that is most wonderful to do!
